The BordererS
The BordererS wanted to express their own views in their new CD “A Time For Change” and go down a musical path they’ve never gone down before. Namely bluegrass mixed in with dixieland, zydecho & roots music. It’s the album to put on at a party but it also has a message in some of the songs. The song “Love is the Answer” provided a platform for The BordererS as songwriters to speak out against threats to democracy and freedom of speech. This is their Protest song for the 21st Century. If we all come together we can make a difference. That is why The BordererS will be donating $2 from every sale of “A Time For Change” to GetUp! an independent, not-for-profit community campaigning group that uses new technology to empower Australians to have their say on important national issues. The BordererS were influenced by Bruce Springsteen’s approach on the “Seeger Sessions”, so most of the new album was recorded live in the studio engineer’s living room. Alex & Jim wanted a band sound (The Rough Diamonds) and also to catch the energy and mistakes that come with a live recording Jim grew up in Scotland listening to Jim Reeves, Hank Locklin & Patsy Cline and Alex really loves dancing to Zydecho music, so it was inevitable that the BordererS would write a country album someday. The band have appeared at the Tamworth Festival six times, the Gympie Muster three years in a row and Galston & Caboolture festivals. Now the kilts have been put aside for a while, the band would love to achieve more success in the country music market and believe that fans will love this album. The BordererS will only be performing two Concerts at the 2007 Tamworth Country Music Festival. The first one will be the CD launch of “A Time For Change” at the Regent Country Live on Wed 24th Jan at 2pm. The second is at The Longyard, Thu 25th at 7.30pm. |
